Brandywine Ballet, Chester County’s oldest pre-professional/professional non-profit ballet company, is proud to announce its 2013-14 season-opening fall production of Grace & Guitars on Oct. 25th at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 26th at 7:30 p.m. at Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall at WCU. Individual tickets ($25-$42) and subscriptions are on sale now at www.brandywineballet.org or call (610) 696-2711. WCU students the day of the performance can get tickets for just $10 at the door.
A unique dual ballet program showcasing the versatility and vibrancy of the art, “Grace & Guitars” features two distinct ballets in one program. Act I is George Balanchine’s beautiful classic ballet Serenade. The George Balanchine Trust only approves the performance of Balanchine works to those ballet companies that demonstrate the highest standards of the art. Brandywine Ballet is honored once again to perform this popular Balanchine work.
From classical ballet to classic rock, Act II of “Grace & Guitars” is Rock Ballet, featuring live music from the Downingtown School of Rock House Band. Rock Ballet will showcase our dancers through four decades of rock music. Period costumes, lighting and, of course, the dancers themselves will transport you back in time when rock ‘n’ roll ruled the airwaves.
Brandywine Ballet Company is proud to continue its association with WCU by offering a joint Certificate in Ballet to qualified WCU students. This year, nine WCU students are participating in the Company, many of whom will be featured in “Grace & Guitars.” Some come on out and cheer your fellow Rams as they dazzle you with their skill, grace and athleticism.
