What’s a better recipe for a cozy fall day than a sweet, freshly made cinnamon roll and a hot coffee? City Buns, a delicious, 100% locally-owned and operated cinnamon roll and sticky bun bakery, recently opened on South High Street.

The grand opening for City Buns on Sept. 24 was an absolute success. The buns sold out within two hours, and have continued to sell out since then.

City Buns currently sells four types of buns: classic cinnamon rolls, lemon blueberry buns, maple pecan sticky buns and pistachio sticky buns. New flavors, including Nutella S’mores, Cookie Butter & Jelly and rotating seasonal flavors, will be coming soon. They also sell coffee organic drip and nitro cold brew.

I personally can attest to the delicious fresh-baked goodness that is City Buns. I have visited twice now, and have gotten ahold of the classic cinnamon roll and the maple pecan sticky bun. The quality of the freshly made dough and the filling’s depth of flavor results in a delicacy that just melts in your mouth.

Vicky Lambert, owner and baker for City Buns, had been baking in her free time for years. When her boyfriend Tom Allen suggested the idea for City Buns, the two of them got to work making their dream a reality. Just a month later, she quit her chemistry lab job to create what is now City Buns.

Lambert says, “City Buns is a labor of love. We hope to inspire someone else to follow their passion and experience the joy of bringing their ideas to life all while putting a smile on others’ faces in the process.”

City Buns is 100% locally owned and operated. “A lot of people think we are a franchise or big chain, and while we plan to bring our buns nationwide, right now I am the one and only baker so I am there every day making everything from scratch making sure the product is the best darn bun you will ever taste!”

Looking toward the future, Lambert says, “We want to keep producing the best-tasting buns we possibly can. We feel like we are really carving out a unique market and as we grow we will continue to expand our menu and sell the most unique and yummy delicious flavors you could possibly dream of.”

Lambert also explained that now they’re looking to grow their team! City Buns is accepting resumes at vicky@citybuns.com
