There will be a screening and release gala for Dr. Jesse Piersol’s debut short film, “Clean Getaway,” at The Note in West Chester on April 14. The film is about three friends who come up with a get-rich-quick scheme to sell homemade soap balls at their local laundromat – and of course, that plan goes horribly, entertainingly wrong. It is a lighthearted romp through the angst of finding oneself.
Although the movie is not funded or affiliated with West Chester University, a number of WCU students star in it, including Lanie Presswood, Dan Hinderliter, Jake Markiewicz, and DaQuann Chung (who is also the cowriter for the screenplay). It was filmed over three days in January during winter break. The WCU Weekly crew, including Matt Toal, Justin Sochovka, Brendan Tuthill, and Nikki Rutkowski, did all of the production.
The best thing about this event is that all proceeds will be donated to the family of Captain Chris Good, the West Chester firefighter who lost his life in the line of duty last November, leaving behind his wife and three children. Tickets are only $10, and students can purchase them online at thenotewc.com (scroll down to Clean Getaway), or buy them at the door on April 14. The Chester County Hero Fund (chestercountyherofund.com) is managing the benefit portion of the event.
The $10 ticket price covers so much more than just a movie screening: there will be a reception beforehand from 6-7 p.m., and afterward there will be a gala, featuring music, dancing, refreshments, and merriment. Christina Gates from WCUR 91.7 will be there also, providing music for the event.
Any interested students should buy tickets early, or visit the Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/CleanGetawayTheMovie.
