America is the land of the free because of the brave. Each day we go to class, sit down, and learn something new, studying to pursue our future careers.

While we sit in class, there are men and women protecting our country and us; they give us the freedom and chance to make our goals and ambitions a reality.

Each time when you see an American flag flying, remember why you’re able to have the freedoms Americans are so blessed to have.

The men and women who dedicate themselves to our country are very special individuals who deserve acknowledgement for their selfless acts of bravery, strength, and hope.

Take a moment and think about the lyrics to Lee Greenwood’s song: “I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free, and I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me, and I proudly stand up next to you”.

Listen to the words; understand who gives you your freedom.

The men and women Greenwood refers to deserve the utmost respect and honor from all American citizens.

They are fighting; they have fallen; they are veterans…and it is because of their bravery that we can wake up everyday and do the things we do.

It takes incredible courage for soldiers to risk their lives everyday for their country, so please show them your appreciation.

This Sunday, Nov. 8, give the veterans of our town and country the respect they all deserve by heading into town to attend the annual Veterans Day Parade.

It begins at 2 p.m. The parade route goes from Henderson High through Gay and High streets and ends at the Courthouse, where there will be a ceremony held in their honor.

Go to the Veterans Day parade, cheer on those who fought for our country; those who fought for you and for me; those who fought for the freedom we cherish so deeply.

Take time to thank the men and women who served our country in such an honorable way during peace and war. Remember the sacrifices of all the heroic men and women who courageously fought to keep America and Americans free.

Never take for granted the little things we get to do everyday because of these incredible people.

Whether you know someone who has served or you do not, be grateful for all that they have sacrificed for you and me.

Remember today, and everyday, why we are so lucky to do the things we do and remember who protected us.

Although Veterans Day comes once a year, we must show our undying gratitude to the selfless men and women of our country today and everyday of the year.
