The Inter-Greek Council would like to recognize and congratulate Abby Lim, the latest recipient of Greek of the Month.

As a senior Business Management major and intern with the Fraternity and Sorority Life Office, this Jersey native is always on the go.

Her nomination read, “In addition to being an active member of Delta Zeta and an organized and contributing member of the Panhellenic executive board as Vice President Internal, [Lim] also developed a service plan for fraternity men and sorority women to help with Hurricane Sandy cleanup at the shore.”

Lim saw the need for help after visiting Belmar two weeks after the hurricane had struck. “Seeing how many people needed help, and how it hit the entire coast really hit home,” Lim said. While working directly with the Red Cross and our community, a list of items was sent out to each chapter of Fraternity and Sorority Life in order to meet the needs of those affected. Boxes of canned good, baby clothes, school supplies for children, and a number of other items were collected.

Members of the community gathered one weekend to box up these items and load them on a truck. The donations were then distributed to numerous locations that were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Within her leadership role on campus, Lim has always strived to get everyone involved.

Lim has facilitated Future Greek Leaders and served as co-activities chair for Delta Zeta three consecutive years. Within the past year, Lim has also been selected as a participant in the Leadership Challenge Series and the Global Leadership Series, as well as a delegate on the search committee for the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life, and the Panhellenic Exploratory Extension Committee.

“The best advice I received and always remember is that leadership is not a position, but an action; leadership is what you do.”
