It was another good week for the West Chester University men’s and women’s track teams as both placed third out of 18 schools at the 2009 Collegeville Indoor Classic held at Ursinus College on Friday.The Lady Rams scored 65.5 to secure third at the event, placing behind Kutztown’s 104 points and St. Joe’s 71 points.
WCU’s Katie Butler won the high jump event by clearing 5 feet, 1 _ inches.
C.J. Jacob finished second in the long jump event with a distance of 16-6 . She also managed a fourth-place finish in the high jump, clearing a height of 4-11 _.
Brittany Foye finished fourth-place in both the long jump with a distance of 16-1 and in the triple jump with a 34-9.
On the track, Lyndsey Ratasiewicz took third in the 5,000 meter event with a time of 18:53.88.
Back on the field, Liz Jackson and Noreen Seymour finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the shot-put event. Jackson recorded a distance of 36-5 while Seymour came in at 36-2.
WCU’s men’s team scored 62 points at the meet. They were topped only by Cheyney’s score of 66.5 and Kutztown’s 64 points.
On the track, Matt Langdale won the 800 meter event with a time of 1 minute, 58.6 seconds and second in the mile, with a time of 4:21.89 in that race.
Matt House was fourth in the 400 meter event after posting a time of 51.83.
In the field events, Kyle Miller finished second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 14 feet, 11 inches.
Leighon Johnson finished second, with a distance of 21-9 feet in the long jump. He also managed to finish in fifth-place in both the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.73 and the triple jump event with a distance of 43-7 ¬.
Josh Bacon finished third in the triple jump event with a distance of 44-2.
Next up this season for WCU’s men’s and women’s team is a trip to Bucknell University for next Friday’s Bison Invitational.
