As the spring sun rises, so do you,
A force of power, ancient and true.
Roots deep in the soil of a storied past,
A legacy of resilience built to last.
From the whispers of ancestors who dared to dream,
To the roar of voices in justice’s stream,
You carry the hopes of those who came before,
Breaking open every closed door.
This semester is yours, your canvas to paint,
With strokes of boldness, untainted by restraint.
Each lecture, each book, each challenge you face,
Is another step forward in your destined space.
You are the rhythm, the melody, the rhyme,
A testament of courage through the hands of time.
When doubt creeps in, let this truth remain:
You are the dream your ancestors sustained.
So walk with pride, head held high,
Your wings spread wide to kiss the sky.
Because in every step, in all you do,
The promise of tomorrow is carried through you.
This spring, let your brilliance shine bright,
A beacon of hope, a guiding light.
For you are more than a student — you’re history’s flame,
An African American legacy, proud in name.
