(West Chester, PA – December 14, 2021): On March 1 during the monthly Council of Organizations, SGA held the Executive Board Debates for the candidates to answer questions and introduce themselves to the student body. Following the debates, the voting period opened from March 2 to March 4, giving students the opportunity to vote on D2L for the candidates. After the votes were counted, the 2022-2023 Executive Board was decided, resulting in an executive board elect made up entirely of women. 

 

President – Catherine Young

Catherine is a third-year Marketing major with minors in Nutrition, Digital Marketing, and Entrepreneurship from Yardley, PA. She currently serves as the inaugural Public Relations Officer on the Executive Board and has previously held the positions of Dining Services Senator and Sustainability Senator. Catherine is a member of the Abbe Society, Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, Mu Kappa Tau Marketing Honors Society, and Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honors Society.

 

Vice President – Karen Mercy

Karen is a third-year French and English major with minors in Creative Writing and Linguistics. Originally from West Chester, PA, Karen has previously held the position of Parking & Public Safety, University Libraries, and The College of Arts & Humanities Senator. Karen is also a member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. 

 

Secretary – Sierra Irving

Sierra is a second-year Computer Science major with a minor in Women & Gender Studies. Sierra joined the Senate in her first year and was previously the Public Relations and Technology Senator. From Nazareth, PA, she is also actively involved on campus in A Moment of Magic, Italian Club, Women in Computer Science, and the Golden Ram Society.

 

Treasurer – Kate Spaulding

Kate is a third-year International Relations major with minors in Japanese, Global Studies, and Global Awareness from Downingtown, PA. She currently serves as the Career Development Senator and has gained experience from being the treasurer of the Oceanography Club. 

 

Parliamentarian – Brenna McGowan

Brenna is a third-year History and Anthropology double major with a Spanish minor, from Kennett Square, PA. She is the current Parliamentarian for SGA, and in the past has held the position of Curriculum and Academic Policies Senator. Outside of SGA, Brenna is an Off-Campus and Commuter Services Commuter Assistant. 

 

Public Relations Officer – Jasmine Stewart

Jasmine is a first-year Statistics major with a minor in Accounting from Lancaster, PA. She currently serves as the University Libraries Senator where she started the Student Library Advisory Board. Her other involvement on campus include the Accounting Society and the Center for Community Solutions.

The Student Government Association is an inclusive student organization looking to project student concerns and bridge the gap between students and administrations. SGA is hard at work revising our bylaws and holding themselves accountable for abiding by them. 

 

The goal of the SGA is to provide a unified and responsible government that will promote the welfare and growth of students and for students. The SGA will work to ensure that all rights and privileges are shared by all. The SGA will make certain that the concerns of students are heard and acted upon.
