The creative writing club of West Chester University is currently seeking submissions for its literary magazine, “Literati.”

For a long time, “Literati” was a part of the English club on campus, with associate editors to the journal traditionally serving roles in both English club and creative writing club respectively. Now that the creative writing club has its own budget to work with, the organization has taken full ownership of the magazine and intends to include its own, creative input into how the magazine will be run and who is eligible to serve as an associate editor.

Literati used to be quite similar to West Chester University’s other literary magazine, “Daedalus”: months of submissions coming in, followed by a single, yearly publication. The revamp of “Literati” has changed the submission process by making it shorter, in order to create a semesterly publication. Not to mention, it’s themed. “This semester, we’re focusing the magazine around the theme ‘overgrowth,’ so an excess: an overgrowth of stress, and overgrowth of plant life; it all works,” says “Literati” editor-in-chief Kirsten Magas.

The editors of “Literati” are currently seeking poetry, prose (under six pages), photography and other visual art. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, Nov. 8, so get your submissions in quick!

You can only be published in a student literary magazine if you are a student — so take advantage of the opportunity while you can. Being published is a great bullet point to have on a resume.

We look forward to reading and looking at your submissions! Please make sure to send everything in by the end of the day on Friday, Nov. 8.
