Dear West Chester,
In a workshop class, Dr. Bridgford discussed the time in which students begin to “feel” the semester. Whether it’s the early autumn fever that hits students in the first few days of October, or the omnipresent and increasing stress levels, we start to succumb to the weight of our own progress. Remember to take a deep breath. Remember you’re going to get through. Even though we don’t have fall break until Thanksgiving this semester, you can define the breaks you need.
I shouldn’t have to mention how proud I am of our issues every week, and yet, I will. I have full confidence in our staff in every endeavor; whether they’re providing a voice to some hidden issues of West Chester, or fixing a printer—I know they can handle this. I’d like to give a special mention to Sunny Morgan and of course our very own faculty advisor, Ben Kuebrich, for hosting a multimedia workshop this week.
Outside of the editorial board, I need to show my gratitude to our writers and columnists this week. First, to Alexander Schmidt and Chris Sassaris, for traveling to Philadelphia twice in a 24-hour timespan to watch an advanced screening of “The Hate U Give”; battling through a grueling rush-hour traffic, Alex and Chris had the opportunity to not only watch the movie, but attend a journalist’s conference for the movie alongside some actors. Next, to Celine Butler and Brendan Lordan, for their continuous journey into the more intensive topics of journalism; you’ll hear more from these writers soon.
I can’t wait for our issue this week; be sure to check out our myriad of news stories (both local and international), Josh Rettew’s continuing serial story in features and our focused perspectives on sports. As always, if you have a story you’d like to see covered, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Max James
