Dear West Chester,

Hello! I’m so excited to be writing my first official “Letter from the Editor.” To quickly introduce myself, my name is Lauren and I’m a third-year English major with minors in Web Tech and Applications and Communications. I’ve worked for The Quad since I was a freshman, starting out as a staff writer as soon as I could. I was then lucky enough to get promoted to the position of Copy Editor and from there Op-Ed Editor. Now, here I am as the new Editor-in-Chief! I am so thankful and excited to have been afforded this opportunity; it’s something I’ve wanted since I was a freshman but never thought would come to fruition.

The only downside of taking on this new position are all the wonderful people who will be leaving The Quad behind. Rachel Alfiero, our longtime Features Editor, will be graduating in May, as will our Asst. Sports Editor, Ryan Hunt. Sunny Morgan, our News Editor, will be stepping down due to time and availability, as will one of our copy editors, Dimitri Kandilanaftis and our Online Editor, Casey Tobias. Katherine Mash, our Asst. News Editor, will also be leaving us to go study in London! Lastly, our beloved Editor-in-Chief, Samantha Mineroff, and our Managing Editor, Kinjal Shah, will be stepping down for the same time-related reasons; they’ve served us so well and will be dearly missed, as will all the departing staff.

That being said, we have a lot of new, wonderful people coming aboard. There’s Halle Nelson taking over News, Amanda Saleh taking over Features, Michael Plummer on Op-Ed, Mikayla Deiter as Asst. News Editor, as well as new copy editor, Sarah Kratz. Danielle Craven will also be joining us as the new Managing Editor, and I can’t wait to see where the next year will take us.

Before I end my first letter, I want to highly encourage all of you to consider contributing to our summer issue of The Quad! It will be my first big project in this position, and I want to make sure it’s as good as can be. If you’d like to write, please email me at QuadEIC@wcupa.edu with your proposal! Articles are due by Saturday, May 6 by midnight.

Have a wonderful summer everyone, and good luck on finals! Enjoy these final weeks of school.
