West Chester University students are fortunate to have the opportunity to attend entertaining events on and off campus without having to spend a lot of money, and this is all thanks to the Student Activities Council (SAC).

This organization plans numerous events that always have a great attendance rate.

Whether it be a night playing bingo, attending an informative lecture, being a fan at a sporting event or taking a bus trip into New York City, there is sure to be something that appeals to you. Most of the trips cost $10 or less, so you’re definitely getting the “bang for your buck.”

My friends and I participate in nearly all of the off-campus events, and it really is nice to take a little trip and get off campus for a few hours. Phillies and Flyers games are always a blast even if you’re not a regular attendee.

In the past, the game was on Dollar Dog Night, and that’s perfect for sticking to your college budget.

If you love to sightsee or shop, then the bus trips to cities like New York and Baltimore are definitely ones you wouldn’t want to miss out on.

Lauren Paules is a sophomore who attends multiple events.

“I think SAC activities are great opportunities for students to get off campus and experience new things,” Paules said. “I love going to them.”

A huge event on campus that SAC organizes is Banana Day. It one of the best days of the year at WCU. It’s a day where you are sure to get your daily dose of potassium and also have the chance to win the special banana T-shirt of the year by participating in fun games.

In the past, some students walked the campus dressed in a banana or gorilla costume.

SAC is an incredible organization that WCU students are lucky to have on campus.

The students and the staff volunteers provide enjoyable activities for us throughout the entire year on weekdays and weekends to make it convenient for all to participate.

Thanks to SAC, we are able to take part in things that are sure to make memories during our college years. Clubs like SAC make WCU the exciting and fun campus it is.

To become more involved, you can attend club meetings on Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m.

If you’ve never attended a SAC event, or hope to attend more, be sure to stop by the window at the bottom of Sykes. The next trip is always posted and you can buy your ticket right there.
