Comedian Chris D’Elia released his new stand up special, “Incorrigible,” to Netflix on April 17, and it is sure to please recurring D’Elia fans as well as confuse newcomers to his comedy.

The special begins with a black and white picture changing to color as D’Elia walks out on stage with his long locks and unshaved face, wearing a casual outfit of jeans and a button-down shirt. The stage setup behind him is lit up with a calming, navy blue backdrop and numerous black crates lining the background to add a bit of strange chaos to the set.

He leads off the performance with stories from when his career started as a comic in laundromats and run- down bars. Later, he does racey impressions of caricatures of Cuban and Russian Americans, stating that Cubans are always happy, and Russians are the exact opposite. It becomes apparently obvious early in the special that D’Elia is not afraid of dropping the f-bomb.

He later reveals what he calls an important message for all girls, which is simply, “Relax.” D’Elia goes on to say that girls stress themselves out on purpose while incorporating fun-loving stories of his past ex-girlfriends. He makes a point during one story to explain his anger by saying “only someone you’re that intimate with could push your buttons like that.”[pullquote align=”center”]Many of the laughs from D’Elia’s comedy from him not being able to get through his own jokes without letting out short bursts of laughter. His storytelling also involves a lot of sidetracking, much like an episode of ‘Family Guy.’[/pullquote]

D’Elia manages to finish out “Incorrigible” on a less flattering and more typical note for that of a male comedian. He essentially states, in numerous ways, that men want to have sex all the time, but women do not.

Many of the laughs from D’Elia’s comedy from him not being able to get through his own jokes without letting out short bursts of laughter. His storytelling also involves a lot of sidetracking, much like an episode of “Family Guy.” Much of the laughter comes from D’Elia’s ability to sell his jokes with his intense facial gestures and awkward body movements.

D’Elia may be more familiar to some as Justin Bieber’s favorite comedian as seen on the Roast of Justin Bieber. Though his comedy at the roast may have been a bit dark for some, he still managed to bring the laughs. Others may know him from a clip that went viral from one of his stand up performances where he does a hilarious impersonation of a drunk girl. All in all, Chris D’Elia’s performance is easily a pleaser for his devoted fans, but his delivery is sure to reach beyond his usual following.
