The Student Government Association (SGA) held their first post-spring break meeting this past Tuesday, where it was announced by Advising Task Force member and university professor Cheryl Wanko that efforts are being made to improve student advising.

Wanko said that advising currently has good approval ratings from students, but the task force would like to see those ratings increase. Adjustments are being made to address the most common changes students want to see in advising, such as providing advisor training, more timely responses to e-mails, and notifications of advisor changes. Wanko added that there will soon be a new advising website that will help students find the answers they need.

To further discuss these changes, there will be an open forum for students on advising on Tuesday, April 7 from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. in Sykes room 115.

There were two new organizations officially accepted at the meeting. The kronum club and the swing dance club both received unanimous votes to be officially recognized as WCU organizations.

Two senator positions were filled by students. Jen Munsch and Jeff Cordon were each given seats in the SGA. They will be sworn in next week.

Dylan Messerschmidt is a third-year student majoring in communication studies. He can be reached at DM837837@wcupa.edu.
