When it comes to quick, on-campus dining, there’s no better place to eat than Varsity Dawg at the corner of University and Church streets. We all love the Pretzelria and Greek trucks, but you don’t know what you’re missing! Varsity Dawg, a one-of-a-kind food truck across the street from the bus stop to the left, specializes in hot dogs, all-natural meats, many soups, and chili, which are all very tasty.

From the fan favorite buffalo-chicken dog (get with ranch), to all kinds of spicy and sweet sausages, cooked perfectly to your choice of bun, Varsity Dawg has a lot to offer, from different combos of breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner.

If you’re a student, parent, or just visiting for the day, you must try it to believe it. Most people love the two-dog combo, which is what I prefer to order. The fast and quality food truck is run by the one and only Gary Rogers, and this is his fourth year cooking for the West Chester community.

For around $6, you do get what you pay for, flavor, chips, and drink included. Single dogs and chilis are the way others go. The flavor of these hot dogs is unmatched. Just by trying one of his hot dogs, I’d bet Rogers could be famous all over the country.  I’ve been hooked ever since my first.

As someone who is concerned with what ingredients are in my food, it was reassuring to know that Varsity Dawg serves a much healthier product. It seems the food spot’s biggest challenge has been the lack of foot traffic due to unfortunate construction near the recreation center. So, why not help yourself and eat great food by helping a local business out? It’s a win-win, and if you haven’t been convinced, I’m telling you Varsity Dawg is one of the best places to eat at WCU!

Of course there’s the ordinary line of food trucks and cafeteria dining halls, but that gets plain and boring. These combo dog meals leave you full and satisfied, and so do the other sides. This delicious food truck is open all year long, so you’re really missing out if you’re unfamiliar with the ‘Dawg. Considering the cold weather has hit, you might as well get ’em while they’re hot!

Don’t forget to snag a Varsity Dawg card for your wallet.  If you bring a friend in, you will receive half off of your meal.
