On Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., the Student Government Association will host West Chester’s three candidates for mayor in the Phillips Autograph Library. The field includes former WCU Kinesiology professor and incumbent Mayor Dick Yoder (Republican), WCU History Professor Jim Jones (Democrat) and “15 North” bar owner Mike Dempsey (Independent). The forum consists of a student panel, which includes members of the SGA Legislative Affairs Committee. All WCU Students are invited to attend.

“Students should not feel discouraged to attend if they do not live in the borough because these issues affect everyone,” said Joelle Solomon, a member of SGA and senior political science major.

In fact, general student turnout is encouraged. “The greater the student turnout, the better their voices will be heard,” said Chuck Liedike, who serves as the student member on the WCU Council of Trustees. Candidates for borough council wards 1, 3 and 7 are also attending.
