Women’s Rugby The West Chester women’s rugby team traveled to Anapolis Saturday morning to take on Navy. The Golden Rams fell, 18-0, in a contest of the top collegiate rugby teams in the Mid- Atlantic Region. The dropped the Golden Rams to 4-2 on the season. Navy scored three trys in the first half of the contest, leading to their 18-0 victory. The WCU defense was able to hold the Midshipwomen during the second half to only three points.

The Golden Rams are the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union’s number one seed heading into the post-season tournament. WCU was paired with Navy in a sort of practice run for the spring MARFU tournament. The Golden Rams have no more home games for the rest of the fall season. They will face the winner of the Delaware- Princeton match on Sunday, November 6, in the EPRU finale in Bethlehem, PA.

Men’s Soccer

The West Chester University’s men’s soccer team edged past East Stroudsburg University, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in East Stroudsburg, PA. Alex Inman, a sophomore at WCU, scored the only goal for the game, giving the Golden Rams their victory. This win improved the Golden Rams record to 9-6-2 on the season and 8-5-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

The Golden Rams now have 25 points in the league, which propels them past East Stroudsburg and into third place in the league. ESU currently has 24 points, but only one more game left to improve that total. The Golden Rams, however, have two games left in the season, one against California, who is currently in second place, and the other against Bloomsburg. The Golden Rams will host the University of California (PA) Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. and Bloomsburg University Saturday afternoon at noon down on South Campus, both PSAC East cntests.

Volleyball

The Golden Rams soared past New York Institute of Technology, 3-1, Saturday afternoon in a nonleague match-up in West Chester, PA.

The Golden Rams, winning two straight non-league games this past week, have improved their record to 16-12 on the season, while NYIT falls to 11-13. The Golden Rams are currently 4-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division. Megan Mussleman lead the team with 17 kills and Jackie Vivanco tallied a team high of 19 digs. Lisa Yeasted lead the team in assists with 57.

Tracy Williams and Nicole Vetock each also had an excellent performance, posting 15 and 14 kills respectively.

Vetock has become only the fourth Golden Rams in history to register over 1000 career kills, posting 1012 thus far in her third season here at WCU. She currently stands fourth all-time in WCU history.

The Golden Rams will visit Kutztown University Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in a PSAC East contest.
