Seniors, the real world is calling and it wants to speak with you. It’s the final year and if you’re anything like the many soon-to-be graduates, you’re wondering, “what’s next?” These next few months are filled with contemplation about the future and, of course, the waiting. Waiting, for that special day known as graduation when you can throw on that cap and gown and receive the diploma you have been striving for the past four years. With the diploma and resume in hand, it’s time to get out there and score that perfect job, but where does the job search process begin?

The recent boom in global online career Web sites has many recent graduates turning to the Internet. Sites such as Careerfinder.com and Monster.com directly connect users and their resumes with potential employers. But what if a site existed that catered directly to recent college graduates and students?

MonsterTRAK.com, the student division of Monster.com, is the leading website for college students and recent alumni who are looking for jobs as well as internships. MonsterTRAK links employers with college students, recent graduates, and career centers to provide a wide range of opportunities that include entry level positions. The site also maintains a variety of career services such as a resume builder and virtual interview center.

Finding that perfect career or even figuring out the exact field to get into can prove to be difficult for any student. MonsterTRAK has recently announced the hottest occupations this year as determined from the graduates of the 2005/6 classes who have just settled into their first full-time jobs. “The top five entry-level occupations largely reflect what we are seeing in the overall labor market,” said Julie Goldthwait, Vice President and General Manger of Monster TRAK.

The number one field, based on the number of entry-level job opportunities posted to MonsterTRAK during the 2005/2006 academic year are Business Operations, Human Resources, and Financial Services. Jobs in this category include those specific to accounting, financial analysis and research, human resource and labor relations and management and administration.

Auditing and accounting job postings were most prevalent with one-fifth of all opportunities within the field.

“There are tremendous opportunities for students interested in pursuing a career in accounting. Because there is such a demand for talent in our industry, our goal is to attract and retain the most dynamic graduates by giving them training experiences and opportunities for advancement that they will not find elsewhere,” said Amy Van Kirk, National Campus Recruiting Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers Accounting Firm.

Management and financial opportunities have also seen a tremendous increase in the number of positions offered. “Demand for those in management, business and financial services, and information technology continues to rise- and that increasing recruitment activity clearly extends to entry-level positions, which is great news for recent college graduates and those entering their senior year” said Goldthwait.

The number two hottest job field is sales and marketing. Entry-level opportunities within this field grew by over 39 percent since 2004. Positions in office, administrative, and customer Service ranks in at number three on the list. Administrative assistants and call workers were the occupations in demand most from employers within this field.

Architecture, engineering and computer information technology round out the list at number four and five. Entry-level computer programmers saw the greatest online recruitment of any occupation.

Based on the list, there are tons of employers within a wide range of fields searching for eager graduates and students to join their work team, but don’t think MonsterTRAK caters only to recent graduates. The site also offers undergraduates opportunities to search for internships and scholarships in the area as well as tips on how to build a proper resume. Getting started on finding that perfect career or internship is easy. Simply log on to www.MonsterTRAK.com and register a user name. Countless job search engines and services are at your fingertips, so get online and find that perfect career!
