Justin Bieber is at it again ladies and gentlemen! His erratic behavior is continuing and doesn’t seem to be coming to a stop anytime soon. Pictures surfaced last Friday night of Justin Bieber at a night club in Houston where he was spotted with a beer in his hand. Since Bieber is only 19 years old, this is an obvious problem because this means that the club was serving to a minor. Some people from the bar in the club have reported that Bieber was only drinking water, but the picture shows otherwise.
As the picture shows, Bieber is holding a bottle of beer in his hand which can mean trouble for the night club. If the investigation concludes that Bieber was indeed drinking beer instead of water like people from the bar claimed, the club is in danger of losing their bar license. Luckily for Bieber, he will not be in any legal trouble because he was not caught in the act of drinking an alcoholic beverage. But although Bieber is not in any legal trouble, this is just another photo and news story that is damaging to his reputation. Bieber has been in the spotlight for the past couple of months and not in a positive way at all. This isn’t the first time Bieber has been spotted drinking beer. He posted a picture on Instagram of him drinking beer with his friend. Yet another case of underage drinking. But it doesn’t stop there, pictures also surfaced of Bieber smoking weed inside a hotel room. Bieber has even been pulled over by the California police a few times for various issues.
Some people may not find this to be a big deal, but Bieber is not just an ordinary teenager. Ordinary teenagers don’t have millions of fans looking up to them and watching their every move. Is Bieber role model material? Maybe Bieber used to be role model material, but now I believe that it’s in question. I know that if I had a young daughter I would not want her to look up to someone like Justin Bieber. To a lot of his fans his music and good looks is why they like him and look up to him, but is that enough? Just because Bieber has good looks and can sing, does that mean his other behavior can be excused? Young girls all across the world are obsessed with Bieber, but I don’t believe that Bieber is a good role model for them. Bieber’s behavior over the past couple of months has shown to me that he does not have what it takes to be a role model to millions of people. Underage drinking, speeding, and smoking weed do not set a good example for the young kids. Who knows, kids might use the excuse, “But mom Justin Bieber speeds down the street so why can’t I?”
Although Justin Bieber has been in the spotlight lately, he is not the only celebrity who hasn’t shown role model material. Miley Cyrus hasn’t been the best role model lately to teenage girls either. Although a lot of her fans respect her for being who she is and being different, Miley’s behavior isn’t very respectable. Miley Cyrus has openly proclaimed that she enjoys doing drugs, and in an interview on the Ellen show, Miley stated that she does not like wearing clothes. Oh and then there’s the fact that she is constantly shaking her butt. What kind of message does that send to teenage girls, or even younger girls? Oh it’s okay to do drugs and wear no clothes: Miley does it.
Young kids and teenagers should respect famous people who do not do drugs, disobey the law, or get in trouble with the police. That seems like a hard thing to do nowadays, but I believe there are a few out there that can be looked up to. Although I know a lot of people who are not fans of the Kardashian family, I believe that the two youngest sisters are great role models. Kendall and Kylie Jenner both have an outstanding work ethic, and they have never been in trouble with the law. Although rumors have been spread about them, they address them and move on with their lives. I believe that they are two powerful young women, and girls around the world should respect and look up to them.
It is hard to find a good role model with all the negative attention that gets spread around, but there are good celebs out there; kids just need to know what to look for. Kids shouldn’t look up to celebrities who influence their life in a negative way. And parents should know who their kids look up to, especially if they are younger. Kids need positive role models in their lives, so they need to know to look up to someone who supports charities, respects the law, and, if they do make mistakes own up to them and make them right.
