Act Now to Stop War & End Racism (A.N.S.W.E.R) was formed on September 14, 2001, three days following the September 11 disaster that struck New York City, the United States and the world. On September 29, 2001 the coalition arranged their pioneering national rally, where 25,000 individuals displayed their convictions on war and racism on the Washington, D.C., roads, as well as San Francisco, where 15,000 individual fought against the crusade of war, along with hatred. On April 20, 2002 the coalition rallied in Washington, D.C., for the longest march in history on Washington’s streets. The protest was significant for two purposes: One, for the constraint amongst the taboo sale from overseas and United States, which causes Mid-East workers exertion. Two, to stop the paranoia against the Arab-American community, as well as other community that resemble them. On March 15, 2003 the organization declared an emergency request to arrange rallies of more than 100,000 in Washington, D.C., 100,000 in San Francisco, and 50,000 in Los Angeles, four days prior to the start of the war in Iraq.Over 2,000 cities and communities worl-wide assembled in the streets for a global event. Moreover, March 19, 20 and 21 brought on more emergency action, for local communities that had some effect around the country. All types of academics, corporations, as well as many individuals performed a walkout to take a stand for humanity.

In April of 2004, the protests became stronger than the previous years. Now protests have not only been on the East and West Coasts, but they hadvestarted to spread to the heart land; cities like Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kingston, Kentucky and Chicago, Illinois as well.

As for 2005, Saturday, Sept. 24 people will gather once again to rally for ending the war and colonial occupation in the middle east. They will also rally against Threats critical to Central American, as well as many more issues that empathetic Americans desire. For more information, you can go to the Coalition’s website (www.
