“Can you dig it?” yelled Shaquille O’Neal after his team won The NBA All Star Game against the Eastern Conference on Sunday, Feb. 15. The home crowd of L.A. had everything their way at the Staples Center. Kobe Bryant had more time on the court than any other player in the game, but they gave the MVP Award to Shaquille O’Neal. The two Lakers were also the top two scorers. Bryan put up an even 20 while O’Neal scored 24. Yao Ming played well in the first quarter as a starter, but the playtime went to Shaq for the majority of the game. Allen Iverson passed the ball off much more than he shot; with only six attempts at the net he threw lobs. All night he had a game high of eleven assists. When questioned about it, A.I. responded was “when you have guys like Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady, you just throw it up to them.” The best dunk of the game was McGrady’s pass to himself off the glass. The East was much more exciting to watch in general. It was an exciting game that was only missing defense and free throw shooting (only half the foul shots were made). With the lead changing six times, the west ended on top with a final score of 136-132.
