When Bloomsburg came to West Chester last Saturday Jan. 17, at 3 p.m. they had no idea that they were going to be in for a rude awakening. The Huskies were blown out by the Rams with a score of 92-62.Entering the game the Huskies had a record of 5-10/0-1 and the Rams had a record of 8-6/0-1. Coming into the game Captain Sam Grannum only needed two blocks to set the WCU career record, which he did, and Coach Dick DeLaney only needed two wins in order to reach 300, WCU’s win over the Huskies brought DeLaney one win closer to 300.

This game was like watching a movie you already knew the ending to. From the opening minutes in the first half, WCU jumped out to a comfortable lead without much effort and never let up. The Rams played as if the Huskies had stolen something from them, punishing them time and time again by pounding on the points. Any ray of sunshine Bloomsburg thought they could find in Rams territory was just not a possibility that day.

With 13:32 left in the first half WCU had a lead of 16-9 and every time you looked at the score board the Rams lead seemed to increase. By the time of 6:52 to go in the first half the Rams had left the Huskies in the dust with a 26-13 lead.

This lead had a great deal to do with guard Steve Fattori who racked up a total 23 points against the Huskies. Matt Kurtz also added to Bloomsburg’s pain with his 15 points.

The Huskies throughout the entire game had a lackadaisical look about them. As if they saw themselves getting beat but they just don’t seem to care enough to pick up the pace.

On the other hand the Rams were just a better team in gen-eral. Bloomsburg was outsized and as a result they were out played. At half time the Huskies had only posted a measly 24 points while the Rams had 41.

In the second half of the game Bloomsburg looked as if someone had just stolen their bike. Their play did not get any better; in fact it got worse. It was as if the Huskies decided they might as well just get on the bus and go home.

What made it worse was that the Rams never got complacent with their lead. Even when there was 12:26 left in the game and the score was 61-35 WCU continued to pour on the points.

WCU made Bloomsburg look like a high school team. Near the end of the game Coach DeLaney pulled all his starters out and the Huskies still couldn’t handle the Rams. WCU won huge over the Huskies 92-62.

Next week, on Wednesday Jan. 28, the Golden Rams will host Cheyney University Wolves at 3 p.m. The Wolves currently have a record of (9-4).
