On Feb. 10, the men and women of the West Chester University Track Team put forth an outstanding effort. The men finished in third place, and the women in fourth at the PSAC East Challenge.Prior to that meet, according to the Rams News, the men stole the first five events against East Stroudsburg the previous week. Also, on Jan. 23, Eric Broad bent was named the PSAC Field Athlete of the Week. According to his statistics, he swept the Delaware Invitational with a remarkable 6 feet 9 inch high jump. He holds the eighth best jump in all of Division II competition this season.

The PSAC conference championship meet begins this weekend, and will be held at East Stroudsburg University. According to Coach Kilgore, the Golden Rams are being held to high standards.

Last year the women finished eighth overall, and the men finished in seventh overall. Coach Kilgore said, “I am very optimistic about both those finishes improving [this year].”

There have been many outstanding performances this season. The Men’s 4×4 relay of Eric Broadbent, Ross Kleszics, Nehemiah Leary and Matt Rowley are said to make their mark on the conference tournament.

Earlier in this season, they broke the school record with a time of 3:20.80 at Penn State University. As for the women, Danielle Scardino broke her own school record in the 60 meter Hurdles at Princeton University with a time of 9.04.

Another voice from the women’s side is Maria Baker. She broke the school record in the 55 meter Hurdles against East Stroudsburg University, with a time of 8.45. According the Coach Kilgore, WCU should show great results and should emerge with some conference champions. He believes more school records should fall this weekend.

As for the rest of the season, this will not be the last we hear from the Track and Field Team. On Mar. 17, they will run at a Washington and Lee invite in Lexington, VA, at 10:00 a.m. Following the invite there will be two more meets. Saturday Mar. 31, the Rams will run at the Danny Curran Invitational, and then the PSAC East Meet. PSAC East will be held on Sat, April 7. On Friday, April 13, the Golden Rams will hold their own meet on the South Campus Track at 3:00 p.m. According to the Golden Rams schedule, they will not finish their season until Thurs., May 3, at Shippensburg, when the Golden Rams battle it out at PSAC Championship at 10:00 a.m.
