EAST STROUDSBURG, PA.- The West Chester Golden Ram’s season-long three-game winning streak was broken on Thursday. Saturday did not begin a new one as the Lady Ram’s lost their second consecutive game failing to the East Stroudsburg Lady Warriors 72-55 in PSAC East divisional play. The Lady Rams are now 1-1 in division play.The Lady Rams (6-9) never led in the contest and shot a dreary 34% from the field. The game started smoothly and three minutes into second half, the Golden Rams tied the game, but they could not take the lead and eventually took the 17 point loss. As a whole, Stroudsburg shot 85% from the free-throw line compared to West Chester 65%. Stroudsburg also had five Lady Warriors in double-digit scoring figures. West Chester’s Katie Kline score 16 points and pulled down 9 rebounds in the effort.West Chester Senior Dominique Lewis added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Golden Rams.

At mid-week, West Chester held a season best three-game winning streak, but fell to the University of Pittsburg-Johnstown Lady Cats 81-70 Thursday in Johnstown. West Chester has struggled with many of the same problems it has all season.

The Lady Rams scored the most points since December 3rd, but could not slow down Johnstown offense attack. Dominique Lewis led the team with a double-double; 19 points, 12 rebounds, but once again defensively West Chester struggled. Head Coach Deirdre Kane has seen her team flow exceptionally and stumble mightily. Coach Kane will look to get back to winning form again.

Over the previous winning streak, ended by Johnstown, the Lady Rams played excellent defense forcing 18 turnovers per game while the offense contributed where it counted in clutch situations pulling down rebounds and shooting free-throws.

COMING UP: The Lady Ram’s look to get back in form as they travel home to play Philadelphia University, a non-conference game, at 7:00 PM at Hollinger Field House. Wednesday, the Rams host a crucial PSAC East showdown versus cross-county rival Cheyney at 7:30 p.m.
