Delta Phi Epsilon’s Candlelight Vigil in honor of Eating Disorders Awareness Week will be held on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. The ceremony will take place on the front patio of Sykes Student Union Center, located near the main entrance. The vigil will feature some inspirational musical entertainment, as well as some speakers reading poetry and recovery stories. We will be accepting donations for the Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders Foundation.

The 2010 Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) Candlelight Vigils are national events that raise awareness of eating disorders and promote a positive self-image through the theme of “Accept Yourself. Accept Others.” Lavender awareness ribbons, brochures, and pledge cards are passed out at the vigils. Our Candlelight Vigil is held as part of West Chester University’s Annual Eating Disorders Awareness Week. It is a time to remember the lives lost to these devastating diseases and to emphasize that recovery can be achieved.

Hundreds of community organizations and support groups hold annual Candle Light Vigils nationwide. Through these vigils ANAD is able to reach thousands of high school and college students to promote awareness of these dangerous illnesses.
