West Chester’s Sara Conrad, Kristen Decker and Vlad Garbovsky earned conference recognition for leading their teams to big wins last week. Conrad was named Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Co-player of the week for her hat trick versus Lehigh University in a 3-2 victory on Sept. 2. Conrad scored two of her three goals unassisted to provide the necessary scoring to push the Lady Rams to 2-1.

“It definitely feels good and it’s a nice start to my senior season,” Conrad said of the honor. “We’ve done pretty well so far and have a couple really challenging games coming up so we’re excited to see what we can do.”

Decker was named PSAC Women’s volleyball player of the week. The fourth-year outside hitter was named MVP of the Wilmington Tournament on Sept. 1. Over the first eight games, Decker collected 99 kills, 137 digs and 12 aces in leading her team over Dowling and Edinboro. In the Edinboro match, she also added her career 1000th kill.

“It’s an excellent way to start of my senior season,” Decker said in response.

Garbovsky lead the West Chester football team’s defense over Edinboro by contributing a school-record four sacks. Garbovsky also added another tackle and a forced fumble.

“I was ready to go and I knew exactly what I had to do all day long. It all worked out,” Garbovsky said after the Edinboro contest.

For women’s field hockey, women’s volleyball and the highly anticipated Golden Ram football squad, it all worked out.
