A common complaint against the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, or “Obamacare,” is that it forces everyone to pay for the uninsured. The problem with this argument is that before the law was passed, we always had pay for the uninsured. When an uninsured person enters a hospital they must be treated. To make up for the loss of treating the uninsured, the hospital has to raise its prices. These are the prices you pay when you go to the hospital. That fact is that the uninsured were always paid for by the insured, but now it is done in an organized fashion.

Voting day is a vital day in our country. Voting is a cherished right that we all share. Voting turn out has always been low in the United States. Most of this has to do with indifference. Most people do not want to take the time out of their day to go to the voting booths. Some people cannot take time out of their day to go to the voting booths. A solution to both of these would be to have Election Day be a national holiday. The citizens of this country will all have the time to cast their vote. Everyone in the country will have a day to act on this sacred right.

Libertarian Presidential nominee, Gary Johnson, is gaining certain momentum on the national stage. He recently visited West Chester, so he must be a big deal. In all seriousness, he does have a base in which he could get great support. The Ron Paul Republicans could easily gravitate towards Johnson. After all, Johnson is very much like Ron Paul politically, except he does not share his conservative social beliefs. Certain Republicans see Johnson as a potential Ralph Nader (that is, an election spoiler). They are probably overestimating, but Ron Paul has been able to attract a strong, dedicated following. If Johnson could get their support, then it could get him into the national political arena.

The elections are less than a month away, and the polls are close. After the media buzz from the presidential debate, Romney was able to get close to Obama. This looks good for team Romney, yet there is still a big problem for him. National polls do not decide the election. The Electoral College does. Right now the Electoral College map is favoring Obama. Romney cannot just capture national popularity; he has to capture certain states and demographics. The Democrats have control of large states such Michigan, Pennsylvania, and, of course, California. People are overlooking the Electoral College when they talk about the National Election.
