Attention all West Chester students! The Media Theatre is inviting you to come out and join their “Wild Party.” The well-known theatre company’s latest production is lighting up their stage with the Philadelphia premiere of this Off-Broadway smash. Written by playwright Andrew Lippa, “The Wild Party” debuted at the Manhattan Theatre Club in 1999, winning both the Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Awards. Taken from a book-length poem about the roaring twenties, the energetic script tells the story of a uncontrollable night in Manhattan. It is set in the city apartment of Queenie and Burrs, a vaudeville dancer and a vaudeville clown. The comedic twosome decide to throw “the most decadent party ever” to escape from the troubles of life.

United under the artistic director Jesse Cline, the talented cast features Broadway performer Jessica Leigh Brown as Queenie. (Brown just finished the run of “Nine” in New York City with Antonio Banderas.) Another shining face to notice is the recent West Chester graduate Michael Hartman.

“The Wild Party” runs from March 10-28. To get a first-hand experience, call the Media Theatre for tickets at 610-891-0100. Also, remember to tell them you’re a student at West Chester for a discount.
