Want to lose weight but figure out a carb from a calorie? of blindly following where fad lead you? Concerned about the nutritional consequences that could arise from eating just meat, grapefruit, or protein smoothies? Fear no longer; help is closer than you think! The Student Health and Wellness Center is sponsoring FREE weight loss
classes that promote healthy, permanent, andgradual weight loss for both students and staff. If youʼre all carbed out and donʼt know which way to turn, then the weight loss class is definitely for you. During the weekly weight loss sessions, the Health and Wellness Centerʼs nutritionist, Karen Fiorenza, will clear up the confusion as to portion sizes and food labels, as well as help you understand how carbohydrates, fats, and proteins affect your body.

The weight loss classes provide individualized health assessments, meal plans, food journals, peer encouragement, and professional support. You will NOT be put on a diet! Consider the experience an educationin eating. Through these classes, youʼll learn more about what foods you consume and why you consume them so that you can make healthier food choices when youʼre at the buffet line in Lawrence or shopping at the grocery store.

Weight loss classes are currently offered for students on Tuesdays 2 to 3:30 p.m. and Thursdays 11 to 12:30 p.m. starting Sept. 28. Staff weight loss classes are offered Tuesdays 12 to 1 p.m. starting Sept.21. If you are interested in participating, call 610-436-0348 or e-mail kfiorenza@wcupa.edu to register.
