The Johnson family could have waited a little while longer to take their vacation, which is a trip across the country from California to Missouri for a family reunion. This not-so-interesting portrayal of what a family vacation should be is a bit boring. Although there was much to be expected of Cedric the Entertainer and his well-known reputation of being the funny man, his performance was not all it was cracked up to be. The Johnson family, which includes Nate (Cedric), his wife Dorothy (Vanessa L. Williams) — who does not live with her husband, but agreed to take the trip to avoid comments from family members at the reunion and for the sake of the kids — son DJ (Bow Wow), daughter (Solange Knowles) and baby Destiny (Gabby Soleil) are in for the time of their lives.

The audience, on the other hand, may think this is a total waste of time. The updated, very detailed Lincoln Navigator that predictably needed to be repaired, ended up being the main provider of a little laughter in the movie. Repairman Uncle Earl (who is also played by Cedric) finally added that humor that should have been seen in the beginning of the movie when Nate took the car in to be repaired.

Along the way they also experienced what it would be like to pick up a hitchhiker. This hitchhiker also happens to be a very young and attractive woman, and, for Dorothy’s sake this may not have been the wisest move for Nate to have made. Continuing on to Missouri, the Johnson family finally arrives at the reunion which seems to be all too quick of a stay. A brief appearance by Steve Harvey does not do anything to add entertainment for the audience.

Overall, this film was expected to bring laughter; it instead brings sleepiness and disappointment for those awaiting its release.
