Well ladies and gentleman, the spooky season has sadly passed as we enter into the month of November and the thankful season. (Yes, the thankful season as it is not Christmas yet.)  However, while we have officially moved out of the Halloween season, that does not mean that you cannot still celebrate the spooky season in your own special way! To get you back in the holiday spirit before you officially say goodbye to October, sit back, relax and watch these seasonal specials to get you in the spooky mood that you probably have never heard of before:

First up on the list is “Halloween Is Grinch Night” (1977).  Released in 1977 after the success of the Christmas special, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” (1966), this television special sees the character of the Grinch back to his old hateful roots. Technically taking place before the events of the Christmas special, the story follows a new character, Eukariah, as he tries to go to the Euphemism. However, as the winds begin to pick up and a sour breeze carries in the air, the Grinch is soon on the prowl to scare the people of the town with his big box of spooks he will unleash on the town. Following a short runtime of only 26 minutes, this cute little television special is a sure way to reminisce about Halloween and the season of fall in general. And yes, even for the people who celebrate Christmas early, you can even enjoy a snippet of the Christmas season when watching this cute little special. Free on Youtube and available on other platforms like Tubi, I highly recommend giving this special a watch for the whole family.

Next, we move onto everyone’s favorite orange cat who hates Mondays, Garfield. Originally debuting a Halloween special in 1985, titled “Garfield’s Halloween Adventure,” (1985), this special centers around Garfield and Oddie as they trick-or-treat to celebrate the holiday season.  However, after stumbling onto a spooky house they have never seen before, Garfield and Oddie soon discover something horrible and frightening beyond their wildest dreams that plans to find them at midnight. Filled with humorous jokes, creative imagery and sprinkled enough with nostalgic charm, this Halloween special is sure to meet your Halloween fix if you are not yet ready to say goodbye to the spooky season. Available on Youtube, Tubi and the Roku Channel. Kick back, relax and watch “Garfield’s Halloween Adventure” this November.

Finally, ladies and gentleman, we move onto Casper. Simply titled “Casper’s Halloween Special” (1979), the short special follows the title character of Casper as he tries to celebrate Halloween like a normal boy. However, despite his attempts, Casper’s ghostly uncles ruin his plans by scaring and frightening everyone away, leaving Casper to spend yet another holiday alone.  Eventually meeting a group of orphan misfits, Casper learns the true value of acceptance and friendship. Banding together, Casper and his new friends now need to team up to stop his ghostly uncles from terrorizing the trick-or-treaters and saving Halloween before midnight. Following a short runtime of approximately 25 minutes, this special is filled with creative imagery and also a nostalgic flare for childhood, “Casper’s Halloween Special” is sure to fill you with the holiday spirit and make you nostalgic for the halloween season.  Available on Youtube, Amazon Video and Apple TV. I cannot recommend enough that you watch this special in the month of November.
