After returning home for Slippery Rock, the Golden Rams were on the road again to face Millersville and Seton Hill.
Wednesday, Sept. 27, West Chester (6-3) traveled to rival Millersville to face the Maraours.
The first and only goal of the match was scored early on in the 17th minute. The goal was scored by Millersville’s Alexis Gazzio.
Not much action followed the goal. With added pressure West Chester was able to keep Millersville to one goal, but couldn’t score one for themselves.
“Millersville always proves to be a challenging game,” said Junior Kaitlin Hatch.
Both teams had 12 shots on the afternoon.
Goalie Elizardo made seven saves on the day including many skillful saves.
The Rams will face Seton Hill for the second time this season on Saturday.
“They have a lot of talent on their team,” said senior captain Rachal Toppi, “They did look to move the ball east and west when they tried to build their offense.”
With hopes of ending their losing streak, the Golden Rams hit the road to Seton Hill. With a final score of 5-0, in favor of West Chester, they were able to do just that.
West Chester was able to come out full of energy again. Hatch score the first goal of the game in the 5th minute, knocking the ball into an open net Hatch tallied her seventh goal of the season.
About 21 minutes later Mackenzie Mlkvy, assisted by Caitlin Kelly, added a goal to the board for the Golden Rams.
Going into halftime WCU had a 2-0 lead over Seton Hill.
Kelly added her own goal in the 42nd minute, assisted by Hatch.
A mere three minutes later Mlkvy scored again. Mlkvy shot off an assist from Sophie Rupert making the lead 4-0.
The final goal of the match was scored by Hatch, her second, off an assist from Toppi.
After the two meetings between West Chester and Seton Hill, the Golden Rams have outshot their opponent 53-4.
In this match alone West Chester held a shot advantage of 23-2. This also marks the second time the two times have squared off this season, and West Chester has dominated the matchup. They’ve scored 12 goals in the two games combined.
The Golden Rams will return home a five-game home series, beginning with Shippensburg on Tuesday at 4 p.m., so be sure to show up and support your Golden Rams!
