The West Chester women’s volleyball team started off with a 3-0 win at Lincoln, then hit the road for four straight matches. They lost their first three and finished out the week with their first conference win of the season.

The Rams’ win against Lincoln came only three days after they first met up with the Lions at Ram Fest, which West Chester hosted inside Hollinger Field House. Both wins were 3-0 sweeps.

Helen Fitzpatrick had 12 service aces for the Rams.

Ten different Golden Rams added a kill to West Chester’s 25-7, 25-13, 25-6 win.

The match against Lincoln was the Rams’ last non-conference match before they started inter-league play. West Chester is a member of the PSAC East. This past week held a line-up of crossover games, meaning the Rams were playing teams from the PSAC West. West Chester had a busy weekend with two straight days of double headers.

On Friday, Sept. 16, West Chester traveled to California, Pa for their first double header.

Their first match-up was against California (Pa.). Although the Rams entered the match on a three game win streak, in which they had not lost a single set, West Chester dropped the match in straight sets 17-25, 15-25, 16-25.

West Chester was not able to find their game in their second match-up of the double header. They lost a second straight match in straight sets to Slippery Rock.

Slippery Rock was expected to be tough competition. Their win over West Chester improved them to 11-0 this season. They have only dropped three sets all season. The Rams were swept by another score of 17-25, 15-25, 16-25.

The following day, Saturday, Sept. 17, West Chester traveled to Indiana, Pa for another double header against Clarion and their host, Indiana (Pa.).

Their first match was against Clarion. West Chester came out strong and stole the first set from Clarion. But the Golden Rams lost the next three sets to eventually lose the match 25-22, 17-25, 17-25, 21-25.

Their second match of the double header was against Indiana (Pa.) and it was also their final match of the PSAC crossovers.

West Chester won their match against the Crimson Hawks, 3-1. Cara Reese had 16 kills for the Golden Rams while Kelly Martin added another 14.

After this past week, the Rams are now 8-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

West Chester has a break from conference play with their match against Holy Family on Sept. 20 inside Hollinger Field House. The Rams have already beat Holy Family once this season in a five set thriller.

The Rams will host their first conference game on Friday, Sept. 23, against Shippensburg.
