Everyoneʼs favorite foursome is back in action! After three long years Weezer is finally releasing a fifth, full-length album entitled Make Believe. The album is due out in stores on May 10, almost three years to the day of their previous album Maladroit, which debuted May 14, 2002. Weezer fans have long anticipated this new album, especially after rumors that the band was breaking up or taking another six-year hiatus like they did back in 1996 after Pinkerton and before their 2001 release, which was dubbed by the media as the “Green Album.” So, for fans, it is very comforting to know that in less than a month we will be able to have our Weezer fix. Make Believe has already made quite a stir, even with its release date slightly less than a month away. The first single to come off the new album is entitled “Beverly Hills.” It has been available for purchase since April 12, and their music video for this single has been in heavy rotation on VH1, MTV and MTV2. The music video has made quite an impression on new and old Weezer fans alike because of its lively content at the Playboy mansion accompanied by a cameo appearance by Americaʼs Playboy himself, Hugh Heffner. Along with the debut of Make Believe, Rivers Cuomo and the gang have decided to put on a mini-tour, covering smaller venues in various areas around the globe.

This tour only contains about fifteen stops, which is extremely tiny for Weezer. Their Philadelphia show, scheduled for May 10 at the Electric Factory, sold out within the first six minutes. Tickets have been made available through E-bay but at the astronomical starting price of around $150 a pop. Lucky for those of us who went to buy tickets at 10:07 a.m., Weezer, along with newly signed Geffen artists, the Pink Spiders, will be doing a huge tour over the course of the summer, during which they expect to fill stadiums. The mini-tour, surprisingly, is not intended for the promotion of Make Believe. It is simply to have fun. Tour dates for the summer have not yet been released, but Weezer plans on playing approximately thirty arenas worldwide.

One thing is certain: Weezer has quite a bit on their plate. For additional information, upcoming tour dates, or ways to purchase the new single “Beverly Hills,” hop onto www.weezer. com.
