Despicable Me 2 (2013)

Everyones favorite super-villain is back with his fun loving daughters, but this time, Gru was asked to take on a different job. With the help of his minions, Gru was given the task of saving the world. He has to search for an old villain nemesis and stop him from taking over the world, but he is not alone. Just when the girls were asking for a “mommy,” Gru becomes partners with the quirky Lucy who he begins to fall for. He has to change his villainous ways to save the world while also taking care of the girls, controlling the minions, and impressing Lucy.
Skeptical of a sequel to “Despicable Me,” I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. It kept everything everyone loved from the original and added more. The minions got a bigger role, which is always pleasing and the plot gives a different take on Gru. If you enjoy family movies or animation, this movie is definitely for you. It was not as funny as the first, but it still had enough humor to make anybody laugh. Throughout the movie, it seemed like it was lacking something to make it another successful animated film; it was just another “good movie.” Enjoy gru, the girls, and the minions on this fun adventure to try and save the world.
The Holiday (2006)

Amanda and Iris are starting another holiday season just like the rest, working. Their jobs come before everything, and this time, they are alone. On two different sides of the world, they are both left to spend the seasons alone and heartbroken. Looking to take a break from their stress-filled lives, they both look online for a vacation spot. Amanda comes across an ad Iris put online offering a house swap, and they agree. The vacation starts off quiet for both of them until they each meet a guy with the potential to change their lives.
With the holiday season quickly approaching, this is the perfect movie to start the season off right. This may be considered a chick-flick, but it is one everybody can enjoy. To all the hopeless romantics, this one is for you. Creating a perfect mix of both the holidays and love, it puts every viewer in a cheerful mood. Although it can be cheesy at times, it still has a good amount of relatable humor. The length of it also takes away from the movie slightly. Nevertheless, “The Holiday” puts everybody in the holiday mood and proves that love always comes when you least expect it. Grab a blanket and hot chocolate and snuggle up for the first holiday movie of the season.
