West Chester University is undergoing quite a bit of construction. The brand new Student Recreation Center, complete with rock climbing wall and indoor track, was just finished within the last few months. The official Student Recreation Center Grand Opening Celebration, will be on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 3:30 p.m. However, according to Sue Miller, Director of Facilities Financial & Support Services, the Rec Center is not the only new construction at WCU. Keeping this in mind, the Facilities Department has established a new Web page to notify students and faculty of any facilities news and alerts.

“The main goal is to make sure people are aware of it,” said Ms. Miller. “There’s going to be a lot of construction going on this year and parking spaces will be shut down, and we want students and faculty to be informed.”

The Web page, which serves to announce activity such as parking lot closures, construction issues, and shuttle bus changes, has been up and running for a few months now, and it will serve as an excellent tool for both students and employees.
An example of an alert on the Web page is that, on Wednesday, Aug. 29, there was a landscape contractor on location at the corner of North Campus Drive and D Lot in Lawrence to complete a sidewalk installation.

Each alert also provides a faculty or staff member contact for Web page users who have any concerns.
Students and faculty can access this new Web page by going to the wcupa.edu homepage and scrolling down to the Campus Announcements section, where there is a link to the Web page.

“We wanted to provide an alternative resource that tells students and faculty where they can park and what construction will be going on at the time,” said Ms. Miller. “We hope that it will serve as a student and employee resource for information.”
