Building transferable skills such as problem solving and communication surely sounds superbly interesting to most college students…eh, probably not. But what if you were able to do this while hanging out in Disney World at no cost? Imagine this for a minute: Chilling with beloved characters like Rafiki, Donald Duck, and Peter Pan. Masticating on top-notch cuisine in Cinderella’s castle. And getting a tan, of course.

It sounds a bit surreal during the school year, right? Well, with the Walt Disney World College Program, it’s possible.

For anyone who does not know, Walt Disney World is located in Orlando in central, Florida, which is surrounded by gorgeous beaches, which you can go to at any time because it is almost always warm there.

Actually, the average temperature during the winter is in the 70s. Sounds pretty decent, especially if you’re getting a tad bit sick of the cold weather here in Pennsylvania. Orlando has something for everyone. If you like shopping, it has a ton of places to shop in which you would receive a discount for being employed.

If you enjoy the Arts, you’ve got places such as the Orlando Museum of Art and Southern Ballet Theatre. Keep in mind also that Orlando is one of the top cities for touring bands. If you’re a sports fan, you’ll be right by the Orlando Magic and Orlando Predators. Of course, there are golf courses all over the place too if you’re into that. There really is something for everyone and you will not have time to be bored.

Being a cast member, as you would be called, you will earn real-world experience. With this unique education and work combo, you will make friends with people all over the world and gain notable people-skills while earning college credits. Make sure to check with your advisor and make sure that the classes you take will be acceptable for credit here at West Chester. There are many different roles you could take on, such as being a culinary assistant, lifeguard, or a house-keeper. You could work in the entertainment field or help out in recreation. Altogether, there are tons of different things you could do, and it will all look excellent on a resume. You would be able to work approximately 30 hours per week, more if desired or necessary. Most significantly, you’d have a fantastic time while earning skills in one of the leading companies in the industry.
