A second email letter from West Chester University President Christopher Fiorentino has been sent out this month to the student and faculty body, announcing that leaders of the university are working on plans to open up on-campus, including both traditional and USH residences halls. Fiorentino mentions that in the case that the university is able to open, it will operate under public health guidelines and protocols. This news comes shortly after the latest updates regarding a COVID-19 vaccine by Pfzier and Biotech and it’s 95% success rate. Currently, emergency use authorization was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Fiorentino notes in his email letter that in light of recent news and “improvements in the availability, price and reliability of rapid testing,” the university is working to bring back students and faculty safely if the vaccine is available next spring. Until then, the university will continue with online instruction for Spring of 2021.

“Fall 2021 will be our time to come back together again,” said Fiorentino.
