This past week on “Survivor,” we saw the craziness of the Edge of Extinction strike itself upon the game once again. It took us to the Koru camp in the early morning after Tyson’s boot the night prior, as it showed Tony just chomping at the bit to find an idol. In that moment, he went and ran for it as the rest of the tribe was asleep before he eventually found the hidden immunity idol. Upon the Edge, we saw Parvati and Natalie stumble upon yet another twist: Extortion. This forced the player to hand over a set amount of fire tokens asked for by Parvati and Natalie. If the player doesn’t give it up, then they can’t vote or play in the immunity challenge.

After getting the note, Tony had to cough up six fire tokens to the two on the Edge, but there was only one problem: Tony had three, which means he had to ask others for their tokens and play both sides. Knowing that he had to do it within a short amount of time, Tony immediately went on the hunt and flipped that craziness switch that he had been so desperately waiting to do. He immediately went to his fake alliance with Jeremy and Michelle and his real alliance with Kim and Denise to get the six before the immunity challenge came around. At the Immunity Challenge, the goal was to hold up a statue with a ten-foot pole, slowly moving back in intervals. The winner took immunity and two fire tokens.

When it began, we saw the first casualty Kim get knocked out without even moving on the pillar and lose the statue. We saw the castaways move back further from the statue, and immediately, the dominoes began to fall. One by one, we saw people fall out of the challenge. Ben and Jeremy were the last to fall out of nowhere. Tony, who was the reigning immunity wearer, won it again for the second week in a row and paid back his fire token debt back in the process.

At camp, the original plan was to vote out the biggest threat, which was Jeremy in the eyes of the majority. Now, seeing an opportunity arise, Tony took a huge leap of faith as he spoke with the opposing side in Jeremy, Michelle and Nick. He went to Nick directly and brought up the idea of splitting up Sarah and Sophie, which blindsided Sophie at Tribal that evening. He knew the plan and went right to Jeremy, warning him of what was coming his way, and Jeremy didn’t bite it. Tony went into tribal worried because it seemed unlikely that Jeremy would make it after walking out on the last Tribal with his own advantage.

However, when it came to the vote it came down exactly as Tony said. Jeremy trusted him in the end, as the 4-3-2 blindside got Sophie the boot into the Edge for the first time ever in her “Survivor” career. Find out what happens next week, as “Survivor: Winners at War” continues on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on CBS!
