The West Chester indoor men’s track and field team placed third overall in Friday’s quad meet hosted by East Stroudsburg University.
Ralph Casper (York, Pa./York Suburban) completed another record-setting day for West Chester as he shattered the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record in the shot put for the second consecutive week. Casper powered past the record he set last week by nearly two feet with his 61-foot, 4 ¼ inch mark. His mark also set the venue record at the Koehler Fieldhouse by six feet. Younger brother John Casper (York, Pa./York Catholic) also placed fourth in the shot put, tallying a 46-4.75 mark, earning him a PSAC-qualifying mark.
Ralph Casper also led the way in weight throw, earning second for West Chester with a 55-11 mark. He was accompanied by Geraldo Medina (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) and John Casper, who placed seventh and eighth, respectively, with PSAC-qualifying marks of 50-0.75 and 48-8.75, respectively. Medina’s throw was a personal best, breaking his former record by eight inches.
Andrew Puz (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) earned sixth place for the Golden Rams in the pole vault with his PSAC-qualifying clearance of 13-11.25.
Moving onto the track, Ori Frazier (Abington, Pa./Abington) earned first place for West Chester in the 400-meter race with a time of 50.74 seconds, a PSAC-qualifying time. Frazier, along with teammates Jarett Zelinsky (Newtown, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep), Trey-Anthony McGarrah (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson), and Chad Mowbray (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) earned first place for West Chester in the 4x400m relay with an overall time of 3 minutes, 26.98 seconds.
Zelinsky also broke his personal best time in the 800m race with his PSAC-qualifying time of 2:00.77.
David Kramer (Washington Boro, Pa./Penn Manor) finished in fifth for West Chester in the mile with a 4:37.17 mark. Bryce Gable (Loganville, Pa./Dallastown) and Chase Knorr (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) wrapped up the day for West Chester in the 5000m run, placing third and fifth, respectively, with times of 16:26.09 and 16:54.37, respectively.
West Chester will travel up to Staten Island, N.Y. next week to compete in the Fasttrack Invitational.
