This past June, a published tweet which discouraged gay pride parade attendance from Rhode Island Bishop Thomas Tobin generated major pushback, and a zeitgeist revival of past incidents, spoken by the commentary class of the horrors of child abuse within the Catholic Church.

No one’s disputing the Catholic Church’s shameful moral conduct with children, both past and present. But, here’s the catch: no one’s celebrating it either.

There aren’t cadres of Catholics who clamor in the media and stamp pedophilic activity – like underage boys wearing sexually suggestive female clothing – an act of brave “self-expression.” Unlike the recent glowing media coverage of preteen, underage “drag kid” Desmond ‘Desmond is Amazing’ Napoles, we do have a gay establishment and mass media active in the promulgation of sexualizing youth.

No one’s disputing the Catholic Church’s shameful moral conduct with children, both past and present. But here’s the catch: No one’s celebrating it either.

According to ABC’s Michael Strahan, putting an 11-year-old boy in a slinky crop top and glitter heels is “trailblazing.” We’re on Cloud Cuckoo during the Pride months where down is up and up is down (which seems to get longer every year). Actor Robbie Crossan, in suit, tweets “I’d rather have my children go to a LGBTQ+ march than allow them to be alone with a Catholic priest.”

However, to note a shocking video of ‘Desmond is Amazing’ dancing in a gay Brooklyn nightclub in a midriff top, blonde wig and taking money from bar patrons – the media’s response was rejoicing:

The Daily Beast: “RuPaul Loves ‘Drag Kid’ Desmond. You Will Too. Fiercely.”

CNBC: “This 11-year-old drag kid encourages LGBTQ youth to be themselves.”

CNBC: “Meet the 11-year-old drag kid who RuPaul calls ‘the future of America.’”

The Bronx News12: “NYC ‘Drag Kid’ becomes icon in drag community.”

The Daily Wire: “Converse Launches ‘LGBTQ+’ Shoe Line Featuring Child Drag Queen.”

It’s “hateful and intolerant” to have a religious conviction on bodily sanctity, but to a member of the activist LGBTQ+ community, an underage boy dancing onstage in drag – a sexually suggestive, provocative form of adult entertainment – is akin to selling a pitcher lemonade in the neighborhood. Gross behavior is excused and, in turn, valorized, so long as the gay establishment as a whole labels it “self-expression” and “being true to oneself.”

What exactly is the definition of “expressing oneself?” How does one do it, know that they’re doing it effectively and why is it intrinsically something one should do? Why are gay activists incessantly haranguing young people – whose minds haven’t developed past milk and cookies – to do so? If someone cuts me off in traffic, can I “express myself” by returning the act and causing an accident?

Considering said “expression” is sacrosanct to gay activists and the entire month of Pride, I’m having fun imagining what reasonings Leftists would give for other profoundly disturbing incidents involving ‘Desmond Is Amazing’ these past few months:

On Desmond joining a YouTube video hosted by ‘Club Kid’ and convicted axe-killer, Michael Alig, underneath a painting with the word ‘Rohypnol;’ what is the gay activist response to that? Or on Desmond, then, imitating the use of Ketamine in the same video? Or, more generally, when a convicted sex offender, dressed in drag, is reading to children in a Houston Public Library, would my concern be brushed off as just being another “Bible bully” against the LGBTQ+ community? (And that was a term that I took from Rep. Brian Sims’ Twitter.)

The Catholic Church has much to do to redeem itself from the sins and harm committed against children. But the Catholic Church does not say, “Convicted priest – icon and the future of America’ while having gross media support and coverage.”

One organization knows it has committed immoral acts and is trying to correct itself. The other is painting body glitter on child exploitation and demanding that we applaud.

Shantay you stay, Bishop Tobin.

    1. Lots of people say “similar things for a long while” (like “Women shouldn’t be working”, “Black people are thugs”, “Gays should stop attacking the church”. It doesn’t make you or others “correct”, never mind even morally right. Byeee….

  1. Why do you hate yourself so much? Kids having harmless fun is completely comparable to pedophilia. There is no semblance of logic or understanding of humanity in your article at all

    1. Haha …. harmless fun. As a former drag show owner (EOY 2009-2010) I can tell you that the drag world is no place for children; if you think RuPaul’s Drag Race is an actual representation of what that community is like then your ignorance of the issue is well beyond moral acceptability. Poor life decisions (e.g. drugs and rampant sexual assault to name a few) abound in the club scene, so holding OUR OWN community accountable for the way it comports itself (or agreeing with those who do) is as far from self-hate as it gets.

By the way … I love the crutch-comment, “internalized homophobia”; it tells me you don’t have a position (or experience) besides that which you’ve pieced together in your gender studies courses. What’s more concerning is the unwillingness (on each of your parts) to actually engage in a thoughtful discussion, or even use your full names.
