West Chester third baseman Anthony Salomone went 9-for-14 (.643) from the plate to earn the Athlete of the Week award in a release Monday afternoon.
Salomone’s production at the plate helped the Golden Rams pull off the sweep of Lock Haven and remain in a tie for second place with East Stroudsburg heading into their home-and-home series this weekend to close out the regular season.
The junior knocked in eight runs in the four-game sweep of a home-and-home series versus Lock Haven, while scoring a run in each game of the series. He homered in each game of the doubleheader, while going 4-for-7.
So., Lili Riley (Doylestown, Pa./Montgomery) scored 26 points over the weekend to lead West Chester to the plate consolation title while hosting its very own Rugby 7s Tournament on South Campus. Riley posted a pair of second-half trys in the plate consolation match to land the athletic department’s athlete of the week plaudits.
