Letter from the Editor: Welcome to West Chester!

Dear First-Year Students,

First and foremost, I am thrilled to welcome the incoming freshman to West Chester University. Each and every one of you will be astounded by the opportunities you will find here as you grow and thrive in an environment that will challenge your minds and perspectives during your time spent here. I can tell you first-hand that I love this college more than I ever thought I would when I came.

Through your years at West Chester, you will be able to count on The Quad Student News Service for reliable, easy access to the latest news and updates happening on-campus and in-town. We have a dedicated, passionate team of board members and writers that meet each week in our humble office to bring the news to the pages each week. As students at West Chester, our news service seeks to provide your voice; we want to hear your stories, your news, and your opinions on the events happening on campus and across the world.

Any student of any year can write for the Quad, even if you don’t think you’re a “writer”. We are a multimedia organization that focuses on video, design, and social media management in addition to our written articles. No matter your strengths, we encourage you to share your stories and perspectives with us as freshmen this upcoming year.

In this issue, you’ll find some of the best pieces from the previous year, along with new stories of events that have occurred over the summer. Our final section is an advice section that we believe incoming freshmen could benefit from.

If you want to be involved with The Quad, I would love to hear from you! Don’t hesitate to reach out via email at QuadEIC@wcupa.edu.

Best wishes and good luck — I hope all of you have an excellent first year.

Sincerely,
Samantha Walsh
