Women’s Athlete of the Week

Kendall Rich (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) had a strong week this past week as she scored two goals in West Chester’s 4-0 victory over Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon. Rich broke through for her first goal of the game in the 67th minute off an assist from Madison Baxter, which gave West Chester a commanding 2-0 lead. This lead grew just moments later as Rich found the back of the net once again in the 70th minute for her second goal of the game and third of the year to put West Chester out in front 3-0. The freshman is now tied for the team lead in points while she leads the team in goals with three. West Chester will be back in action this week facing Pitt-Johnstown at home on Friday before traveling to Bloomsburg on Sunday.

Men’s Athlete of the Week

Jason Pixley (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) had a strong week last week as he scored two goals with one of those goals being a game-winner while the other one was the tying goal in a 2-2 draw against Mercyhurst. Pixley began his big week on Wednesday evening when he broke through in the eighth minute off an assist from Eric Greer to lead West Chester past PSAC rival East Stroudsburg. On Saturday, Pixley came through in the clutch once again scoring the tying goal in the 74th minute to even the score at 2-2. This goal was the final score of the game as the contest ended in a 2-2 draw after 110 minutes of action. Pixley now leads the team with three goals on the year for a total of six points both of which are team-highs.
