Look up the concrete catalogue of a city apartment building
And count the yellow squares.
In each one, someone is building a life.
A whole world of hopes and fears
And accomplishments and shames
And a thousand other things they don’t know the limit to
Fits neatly into incandescent glass.
The funny thing is, there are doors in between them, too.
Thank God.
