Dear West Chester,
Welcome back! I hope all of your winter breaks were restful and fun, and that you’re ready to get back into the swing of the semester.
We have a lot of exciting things underway here at The Quad. First, we’re looking to expand our writer pool and offer a columnist position, so if you’re particularly passionate about any one topic, email me! We’re also starting up more multimedia projects such as podcasts and videos, so if that’s your thing, you know the deal—email me. Finally, we’re looking to transition into broadsheet layout within the coming weeks, so look out for a total overhaul of The Quad you’ve come to know (and shout-out to our photography editor, Alex, for all his hard work in creating the new layout!). Coming along with this we’re hoping to change our center spread into a little creative zone where we can publish creative writing, drawings, comics and more; all contributions are welcome.
Speaking of which, the new logo on the cover is courtesy of Abigail Goss, one of the two winners of our logo contest! Congratulations also to Tara Shachter, our other winner, whose logo design will soon be featured on our website and social media.
Along with all these new changes comes a lot of new staff members. This semester we welcome a handful of new people on board: Tyler Grace as sports editor, Max James as features editor, Justin Currie as asst. photography editor, Alex Shakhazizian as asst. news editor, Damien Yasipour as business manager, Katherine Mash and Olivia Bortner as copy editors, Sunny Morgan as our first ever multimedia editor and Rebecca Broughton as web designer (yes, look out for a new and improved website by the end of the semester!).
Have a good week, West Chester, and make sure to bundle up! We might have six more weeks of winter, but just think warm thoughts of the spring to come and it’ll be here before you know it.
