Dear West Chester,

Happy Halloween! I hope you all had tons of (but not too much) fun this past weekend what with Halloween and homecoming both being celebrated across town. I can hardly believe November is here—it seems like just yesterday that my favorite month, October, was finally rolling around with its orange leaves, fall-themed activities and pumpkin flavored everything. As the semester goes on, everything just seems to be flying by even faster… or is that just me?

You might notice something “off” about The Quad this week. That’s because we have a new front page layout! After playing around with InDesign for an inordinate length of time this past week, along with advice from my staff, I added some little blurbs about articles running in The Quad its week of publication. That, and I made the logo bigger, but that’s less exciting. Anyway, if you have feedback or ideas about innovative changes we can make to our newspaper, let us know! You can always reach me at QuadEIC@wcupa.edu; The Quad’s staff and I are always eager to hear new ideas. In fact, there’s talking floating around the office of further changing the layout and maybe even adding a new section… stay tuned.

At this point, you’re probably sick of my updates on our staff, but I have one more! Our beloved Advertising Manager Brooke will be stepping down from her position due to time constraints. New to The Quad is Michele, our new advertising manager coming on board with us at the start of next week! We all wish Brooke the best of luck in finishing out her senior year here at WCU.

An important reminder: We are in the midst of our very exciting logo contest! Try your hand at graphic design and give logo-making a whirl; you could end up not only creating The Quad’s official new logo, but winning a gift card and t-shirt with the logo on it! Yes, that’s right, very exciting stuff. As a reminder, submissions are due by Dec. 2 at midnight to QuadEIC@wcupa.edu. Get creative!
