On Sunday, Feb. 5, the Falcons faced the Patriots in Super Bowl LI. Even though the game did turn out to be quite interesting, the halftime show isn’t something to gloss over. Lady Gaga took the stage, and whether we were looking forward to her performance for weeks or just there to watch the game, we can’t deny that she outdid herself once again.

Many are comparing Lady Gaga to Beyoncé. Others are commenting on her body. No matter what stance we look at it from, Lady Gaga brought us all to life with her performance.

From her old hits like “Bad Romance,” “Just Dance” and “Poker Face” to her brand new single “Million Reasons,” Lady Gaga awed us once again. As someone who grew up listening to her music, she always seemed to be in the background of my events throughout high school. From my very first cheerleading tryouts freshman year to “Just Dance,” to attending my first formal and hearing “Poker Face” come on, her hits never seemed to disappoint.

When I found out that Lady Gaga would be the Super Bowl halftime show performer this year, I was beyond excited. She is the perfect combination of fun and entertaining while also being able to reach every person in the audience, or anyone watching from home. Not only is her voice amazing, but she always seems to tell a story with her words. We know Lady Gaga went through a lot in her life, and she always seems to be fighting for what is right. And let’s not forget the adorable shout out to her mom and dad on Sunday night.

I strongly believe that Gaga is someone who can sing anyone into a better mood. She is a classic beauty and an entertainer that I don’t think we will ever get tired of hearing from. There is something about her presence on a stage that draws you to the music and really makes you want to sing along.

Her calm, cool and collected attitude translates to such poise on and off the stage. She is constantly speaking from the heart and is fearlessly herself. I believe that she was a great pick for the Super Bowl, not only because she engages the entire room, but also because she is a great role model. Children around the country are watching this football event, and what better entertainer than Lady Gaga to be in front of them?

Despite her crazy costumes and actress-like appearances, she is always reminding us that it’s cool to be different and being yourself is most important. When we think about her coming out on stage in her wacky costumes, we feel like there is no way she can doubt herself. Although she probably has moments of doubt, especially when there are people attacking the way she looks, she is unapologetically herself, and that is the kind of stuff we need to be teaching more and more to children.

Music is about art, passion, rhythm, style and much more, but there are few artists that we can say we would look up to in all aspects of life, and Lady Gaga is one of them. Her music is catchy and fun, and most definitely relatable. She sings about success, love, harm and heartbreak, which is something we can all relate to at some point in our lives.

Whether you were looking forward to Sunday for the sport of football, the great food, the commercials or just the excitement of football season being over, we cannot deny that this halftime show is one we most definitely will not forget.
