On Saturday, Sept. 10 Alpha Delta Pi, along with eight other sororities, welcomed home new women to their chapters. A sea of young ladies filled the academic quad, ready to run to their new sisters. Alpha Delta Pi was waiting for their turn to run and greet their 50 new members, jumping up and down and chanting at the top of their lungs. Immediately following bid day, the sorority got together for a photo shoot, meet and greet, and of course, pizza.

With over 100 women in the chapter and gaining credibility through scholastic and leadership achievements, many are surprised that Alpha Delta Pi came to West Chester’s campus just three years ago. Alpha Delta Pi colonized in 2013 and featured a founding class of about 80 women. The founding sisters worked tirelessly to create a chapter that would reflect the values they all had.

Now, three years later, only five sisters from the founding class remain. Senior Victoria Williamson has been able to watch the chapter grow since her freshman year. Citing hard work and building the chapter’s brand, Williamson said, “It’s been such a positive experience to be so invested in something and be able to watch it flourish firsthand.”

As president of the Panhellenic Council, she was able to watch all the women going through recruitment find their home away from home.

“It’s been such a positive experience to be so invested in something and be able to watch it flourish firsthand.”

Formal Recruitment Chair Kelsey Foreman worked effortlessly alongside Natalie VandeVliet, the Recruitment and Marketing Vice President, to ensure that recruitment ran smoothly.

From planning the themes of each room to teaching sisters how to properly recruit, Foreman said that all of her sleepless nights and meticulous planning were worth it when she saw 50 new members run home to ADPi on bid day. She looks forward to celebrating and getting to know all the new members.

Hannah Sternbach, a new sister of Alpha Delta Pi, expressed her excitement when receiving her bid on bid day. As a transfer student last year, she struggled finding people who shared her passion for learning, volunteering and sisterhood.

“All of the girls in ADPi embody these characteristics, and I am looking forward to getting to know each of them better,” Sternbach said.

Alpha Delta Pi thrives on the idea of sisterhood. Whether it is doing homework in the library, going on hayrides or walking into town for a fro-yo date, sisters bond and make memories every day. It is rare to walk into the library and not see at least five sisters chatting and laughing with their laptops and books spread across the table.

Looking ahead, Alpha Delta Pi will be holding a philanthropy event in the spring to support Ronald McDonald House Charities. Throughout the semester sisters will also be in Sykes collecting pop tabs.

With classes back in full swing, Alpha Delta Pi has a lot to look forward to this semester, including lovely new sisters. Alpha Delta Pi is excited to see what these new women bring to the table for their continually growing chapter.
