The West Chester University women’s basketball team has clinched the PSAC East division with their victory over Kutztown.
They will be the first seed out of the east and host the PSAC playoffs. They defeated Kutztown to secure the first seed on Wednesday, Feb 24. They got off to a fast start and never looked back, winning 87-77.
Kendall Benovy recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. She also recorded an assist, block and a steal. Brittany Sicinkski, Dallas Ely, and Anna Kuntz each poured in 13 points.
Sicinski really helped her teammates out throughout the night as she recorded nine assists to go with her 13 points and six rebounds.
After a first round victory for East Stroudsburg in the PSAC playoffs on Saturday, Feb. 27, West Chester will face off against the Warriors for the third time this season.
They have faced the Warriors twice this season and have swept the season series. However, the Warriors took the Golden Rams to overtime a few weeks ago, so the Golden Rams will need to be playing their best basketball because this team is capable of the upset.
West Chester finished 20-6 this season, which is similar to how they finished last year. But they will be looking to exact revenge and take the PSAC title to West Chester. They fell by 16 points to the University of California of Pennsylvania in the PSAC championship last year.
This is the year it is all supposed to come together for the Golden Rams. Their entire starting five is all seniors and has been playing together for four years. They have the experience of the PSAC Tournament. They have the talent, and the momentum, as they have won 12 of their last 13 games of the season.
All the hard work, sweat and tears of the last four years will culminate in the next few weeks.
